Q: Does this have molasses
a year ago- A: Standlee does not add molasses to any of our products.a year agoHelpful?
Q: Where do the calories come from? Sugar? Starch?
a year ago- A: Our Smart Beet Shreds are made from dried sugar beet pulp after removing the sugar. Smart Beet is a highly digestible fiber source. The Dietary Starch has a Max 2% and Sugar is Max 12%. The calories come primarily from the highly digestible fiber content that is fermented by microbes in the digestive system, producing volatile fatty acids which are then absorbed by the body as energy.a year agoHelpful?
Q: Can I use this for pigs? Im trying to do a beet pulp, barley, and dyne mix but not too sure where to find beet pulp.
a year ago- A: Yes, pigs can eat beet pulp, which can improve their gut health. Beet pulp is also a good source of energy and fiber. Soak dry beet pulp in water before adding it to feed. In the first diet after weaning, limit beet pulp to 2-5%. In late nursery diets, beet pulp can be used up to 15%. Feeding more than 15% can reduce feed intake.a year agoHelpful?
Q: When soaking should all the water be absorbed or is it a soak and drain excess water off ?
a year ago- A: Standlee recommends that the Shreds be soaked in a ratio of 1 part shreds to 2 parts water. You do have the option of draining the water. When the first water is drained from the shreds, you will be reducing the sugar content by approximately 68%.a year agoHelpful?
Q: Why does the picture say 40 lbs but the caltion says 25 lbs? Why are shreds double the price of pellets?
a year ago- A: Smart Beet Shreds are what remains of a beet after the sugar has been extracted. Smart Beet Pellets are shreds that have been ground and then put through a pelletizer where heat and steam are added to create the pellets. Our product packaging has to be a certain size to fit on pallets so that we can transport our products to Retailers. We can only fit 25 lbs. of Shreds into our packaging whereas the pellets are more compact, therefore, we are able to fit 40 lbs. in the same size bag. As retail pricing is concerned, Retailers have no restrictions as to the pricing of our products.a year agoHelpful?
Q: Could this be fed to deer? And does it need to be soaked first?
a year ago- A: Standlee Smart Beet Shreds can be fed to deer. Beet shreds are a dehydrated product that when exposed to moisture can swell and create a choking hazard. This is the reason for the recommendation of soaking for a minimum of 15 minutes in a 2 to 1 Ratio of water to shreds.a year agoHelpful?
Q: Can i add this to my dogs food
2 years ago- A: Standlee Smart Beet Shreds are recommended for Horses, Cattle and Goats. We advise that you consult your veterinarian before feeding our products to other animals than those we recommend.2 years agoHelpful?
Q: Does the beet pulp shreds contain molasses it does not say no molasses like most beet pulp shreds do
2 years ago- A: Hi, Thank you for reaching out to us; your communication is greatly appreciated. Beet molasses is the viscous residual substance that remains following the crystallization of sugar from the concentrated sugar juice derived from sugar beet roots during the sugar beet manufacturing process. Trace amounts of beet molasses persist in the beet pulp as a by-product of this sugar extraction procedure. For those seeking to reduce the sugar intake in their animals' diet, we offer a practical solution. Simply rinsing the product or soaking it in a slightly larger quantity of water, followed by pouring off the excess liquid, has been demonstrated to effectively mitigate the sugar content in the product. Feel free to let us know if you have any additional questions. Thank you! Standlee Consumer Services Team2 years agoHelpful?
