I BOUGHT MY SRK SK-5 A MONTH AGO I'M VERY PLEASED WITH IT

This San Mai SRK is my 4th. I own 3 SK5 variants with different coloured handles. All have been shaving sharp out of their boxes. The San Mai one is beautiful to behold. The reason I'm writing this review is because I have read that the securex sheath can blunt knives. I don't this applies to any other knife by Cold Steel but I'm sure it does to the SRK. Inside the sheath on the spine side are 3 ridges. One right at the entrance to the sheath and 2 more further in. These ridges press against the spine of the knife and force the blade edge to cut into the opposite side of the sheath. If not removed these ridges will definitely cause the dulling of the blade over time. I have removed them but that should be done before the 2 halves of the sheath are put together in production. Please look into this Cold Steel. I have 25 Cold Steel knives and am very happy with all of them. It's just the SRK sheaths that are dodgy.My knives were all bought from reliable reputable online stores in England. I would definitely recommend your knives to my friends.

I bought this knife in 2002. It’s been to Bosnia, Iraq, Africa, and Afghanistan. It’s been with me on zodiac rides through the ocean to 120 degree plus dessert patrols. I’ve used it in subzero temps In Afghanistan. And multiple field exercises here in the states. I’ve never needed another combat knife. It’s the most durable blade and handle I’ve ever had. And it’s not even close to being worn down. After this many years I felt compelled to write a review out of respect for my knife.

Would prefer a soft sheath but the knife is great. Just like the one my brother carried in Iraq.
