I used a similar version of this vacuum at work and found it to be really handy. So I purchased the DCV581H back in December 2018 for spot clean up on small DIY projects. As others have noted it's not the most powerful vacuum I own, but it is adequate and by far the most convenient. I've used it for cleaning up sheet rock dust, sawdust, vacuuming out vehicles and an RV, minor liquid spills and even to clean carpet on the stairs in our house. If the battery goes dead mid job, no problem. Just plug it in. It seems to be a bit more powerful running on 120V AC. It's compatible with inexpensive extension wands and accessories to expand its usefulness. Even after seven years I'm still using the original filter (cleaned it periodically). The capacity is more than adequate for my needs. The canister is easy to empty and easy to clean. My only gripes are that the hose storage leaves a lot to be desired. It comes loose easily during transport leaving the hose flopping around to drag on the floor or get caught on things. Despite that, the original hose did last over 5 years. As previously mentioned suction power could be better. Overall I'm quite happy with it and it's still running strong after seven years of frequent use.

Bought this job site vacuum because it runs on battery as well as AC which makes it extremely convenient. Of course, the vacuum sucks up all the debris needed but the fact that it can also be used as a blower is a must for my job. Too many small areas to reach around (conduit, pipes, etc...) so I can blow the debris out and then vacuum it all up.

I bought this product 6 months ago and is does not suck. I identified the problem, which is the float ball that acts to shut off the vacuum when there is too much water is too light weight. Whenever I turn on the machine, the power of the vacuum sucks the ball, which is located within a filter, up so it turns off the suction feature off. I have washed the filter, which is new and has only been used a few times, with no effect. The only way it will work is to remove the filter which is not recommended.

Been using it for 2 years now, and never let me down. Use it regularly to clean up my tools and work benches that is also my garage. I would by it again without hesitation.
