- The calorie content (ME) is 740 kcal/kg or 11.1 kcal/Tbs when reconstituted 1:2.
EASY-TO-MIX FORMULA - Whisk or shake 1 part powdered KMR into 2 parts warm water to room or body temperature before serving. Do not mix more KMR than can be consumed in 24 hours. Do not use a blender. All kittens should receive their mother's milk for at least 2 days, if possible. The colostrum milk gives extra nutrition and temporary immunity against some diseases. DIRECTIONS FOR FEEDING: Feed kittens 2 tablespoons (30mL) of liquid KMR per 4 oz. (115g) of body weight daily. The daily feeding amount should be divided into equal portions for each feeding. Kittens' needs will vary and this amount may have to be increased or decreased, depending on the individual. Young and/or weak kittens should be fed every 3 to 4 hours. Older kittens can do well being fed every 8 hours. Weigh the kittens daily to assure adequate feeding. When kittens are old enough to lap, begin offering reconstituted KMR in a saucer.
- The PetAg 2 oz. (60mL) Small Animal Nurser is suited for feeding most kittens.
- Pregnant and lactating females: Feed 2 teaspoons (4g) KMR powder per 5 lbs. (2.2kg) body weight daily.
- Growing kittens already on solid food, show cats and/or convalescing cats: Feed 1 teaspoon (2g) KMR powder per 5 lbs. (2.2kg) body weight daily by top dressing food.
- Consult your veterinarian for additional advice.
During the 6th week, mix reconstituted KMR with KMR 2nd Step Kitten Weaning Food. Use of the KMR and 2nd Step will allow the kitten to be gradually switched to solid food.
