Do not waste your money, go get a real lathe

I bought this machine expecting a capable little lathe, boy was I wrong. This machine has no torque, no locks on any of the axis and is poorly thought through. They give you a 4 jaw chuck but not the bolts to install it. They don't give you a jacobs chuck, and the end stop doesn't have a way to secure a Jacob's chuck. it will not remove steel at any usable rate. I'm so disappointed with this machine the parts I was going to make on it I will now get shipped out. It's a terrible experience to use this machine. No locks means the machine spits hot chips on your arm as you try to hold it steady to get a strait cut.

No, I do not recommend this product.

    Good starter metal lathe

It came in a good, protective crate with no complaints. Set up was relatively easy, a good learning experience as to how everything works. Motor was quiet and powerful. As my first metal lathe I'm satisfied this will be very useful learning machining. Biggest complaint is the compound. Ruff machining, very time consuming to change the angle and keep it tight. Definitely needs a quick change tool post also. Still, I'm glad I made the purchase and can see lots of learning and projects in the future.
