Great machine for my small shop. The only issue is using the dust collection hose during planing. The hose gets in the way of boards entering the planer. The fix I found was a 45degree elbow fixed to the dust hood. This IS NOT a big deal and I am very pleased with my purchase.

I bought this unit in 2023. Space was a limiting factor in my garage shop and I was very interested in combining these two important tools. Have used it now on a variety of projects and now, after 2.5 years, wanted to share my experience. The good: The helical cutterhead that comes standard on this is awesome. Came with replacement blade cartridges. Have never had to replace one, as rotating has done the trick. Lots of life in the stock cutterhead and leaves a great cut. This works really well with shorter stock, or at least stock that you're willing to run through and cut the ends off of. Which leads me to the bad: This is a bench jointer/planer, and even with that in mind, the infeed and outfeed are just not enough to support longer pieces. I built a bunkbed, and for some reason tried to run 8 foot boards of red oak through this. Couldn't have been a worse tool for that job. I ended up buying a Jet jointer off Marketplace for that project because I couldnt balance the boards steadily on the cutter head even with my wife on the other end to catch them. That was an extreme case, admittedly, but the unit could not handle it. The planer has no infeed or outfeed support whatsoever. Snipe is particularly bad on the planer. You have to either use a sacrificial board on a sled or just plan to cut 3 inches off both ends of whatever you send through it. The bigger problem is that the casting gets in the way while sending stock through the planer. There are times that I find myself forcefully shoving stock through just to take off 1/32" because the housing is in the way. The fence on the jointer is probably my biggest problem. You can screw with it for a long time to get it perfect, and then lock it down, and the locking mechanism will pull it out of square. You have to get used to it and kind of set it just out of square so that when you tighten it, it pulls it into square. Or you know, kind of square. And you have to do that EVERY TIME because you have to slide the fence out of the way in order to convert the jointer into a planer. You have to slide the fence back in order to place the dust collection housing over the cutterhead while in planer mode. Resetting it is a brand new battle every single time. TLDR: For small projects and small shops, this is a great tool. Helical cutterhead is awesome. This unit isn't the right tool for projects involving boards over a couple feet in length. The fence on the jointer is terrible.

Newly purchased. First impression. Don't judge this little dynamo by it's size. It flawlessly jointed & planed 225 Bf of rough dry Douglas Fir 1X6-8'ers in just a few hours. The product smoothly ran without a glitch never bogging down or binding up. The 1-1/2 HP is a perfect complement to it's design. Considering the price, the space allotted versus conventional individual machines, & functionality, this product gets a 5 star.
