Q: How to change the battery

1 Answer
  • A: Hi there, Here are the instructions per the user manual. I've also added the user manual link below. Instructions with images can be found on page 12. The helmet is powered by solar cells and two 2450 lithium batteries. 1. Low Battery Indicator The low battery indicator lights when 2−3 days of battery life remain. If battery power is low, install two new Panasonic CR2450 lithium batteries. 2. Battery Cover Slide the battery cover out and remove the old batteries. Install new CR2450 lithium batteries. Reinstall cover. Be sure Positive (+) side of the battery faces up (toward inside of helmet). https://media.tractorsupply.com/is/content/TractorSupplyCompany/tsc/product/1/38/75/80/1387580_Man1.pdf

Nice helmet for us old guys

My harbor freight helmet batteries went dead so I took it apart and found the batteries soldered in so I decided to upgrade. The nice thing about this helmet besides easy to change batteries is you can put a magnifier lens in it so it's kind of like having a welding helmet with readers. At 63 that is a nice option.

Hobart Inventor

Have only used it a dozen or so times for a total of a couple hours but so far I like it. It does what it is supposed to and is fairly comfortable. I used to weld for a living and have other welding shields. I bought one from yeswelder that I sent back because the entire lens area did not darken. The Hobart does.

Works well

Wish I’d gotten an auto-darkening helmet 6 years ago. This one works well. Couldn’t give it the fifth star because there isn’t enough cushioning in the head adjustment band. Feels like the adjustment knob is pushing right into the middle of the back of my head.
