I really like this product when newer, however, it’s now the third one I’ve bought at Tractor Supply in about 4-5 years. It doesn’t last. It’s perfect when it’s new and retracting but eventually it just stops.

Long-time user with larger dog

I like these (used the <80# and >80# versions). Instead of staking to ground, I suspend it from a pulley on a cable and use it as a run for my lab. Pass a bolt thru axis and attach with aluminum straps to pulley. I read the other reviews re safety and durability. My take: raising it above the height of the dog removes potential for wrapping around legs, and careful placement reduces risk of wrapping on obstacles (kennel, dog house, landscaping). Re durability: I have to replace the retractable cable ~1x/yr, mainly because it fails to retract, but it is always out in the weather. So room for improvement there, but I’ve looked for other brands and haven’t found any.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Works good when new however once the coating wears or is chewed on the cable it will retract inconsistently and makes it very easy to wrap around dogs legs cutting circulation.

Quit retracting in less than 3 weeks. Absolute waste. If I wanted a non-retractable lead, I would have paid $30 less.
