Dogs diagnosed with osteoarthritis (OA) or other inflammatory joint conditions may be prescribed Metacam (Meloxicam) Oral Suspension. Metacam is an NSAID that works to alleviate joint pain and inflammation, resulting in better mobility and improved quality of life. Metacam comes in a liquid form with a palatable honey flavor, and it is administered easily using the included syringe. Depending on your pet's condition and the underlying cause of their OA, Metacam may be combined with other treatment methods, such as healthy lifestyle changes and/or joint care supplements.How it Works

Special Precautions

Keep away from children and animals. METACAM is only approved for use in dogs only. The safe use of METACAM Oral Suspension in dogs younger than 6 months of age, dogs used for breeding, or pregnant or lactating dogs has not been evaluated. Not for use in animals who are hypersensitive (allergic) to meloxicam (Metacam), carprofen (Rimadyl), aspirin, etodolac (EtoGesic), deracoxib (Deramaxx), firocoxib (Previcox), tepoxalin (Zubrin), or other NSAIDs.

Overdose Information

Immediately contact your closest emergency animal hospital or vet.

Side Effects

The most common side effect of NSAIDs is stomach upset, but stomach ulcers may develop, in which case you may see loss of appetite; vomiting; diarrhea; dark, tarry or, bloody stools; or constipation. Side effects involving the kidney include increased thirst and urination, or changes in the urine color or smell. Side effects involving the liver include jaundice (yellowing of the gums, skin, or eyes). Other side effects may include pale gums, lethargy, shedding, incoordination, seizures, or behavioral changes. If any of these side effects are observed, stop treatment and contact your veterinarian. Storage

Store at controlled room temperature, 68-77°F (20-25°C). Excursions permitted between 59° and 86°F (15° and 30°C).
