Q: Do I need Internet for this?

1 Answer
  • A: Howdy neighbor! You do not need internet or a Wi-Fi connection for the Mighty Mule Wireless Driveway Alarm to work perfectly on your property. The system operates as a completely self-contained setup, using standard local radio waves to send an instant alert from the outdoor sensor to your indoor chime receiver from up to 400 feet away.

Q: If it is wireless, why is there a long cord?

A: Holly, the wireless feature is from the transmitter in the yard to the receiver you place in your home or garage, etc. The wire is from the transmitter to the sensor, so you have flexibility along your driveway to place the sensor away from sprinkler heads and other obstructions.

A: Bear, this is a 12v magnetometer that generates a magnetic field with a 13-foot radius from the point the sensor is buried. Beyond this Mighty Mule can't provide any other information and suggest asking for medical advice from your doctor.

Q: Will the indoor receiver work inside a metal building

1 Answer
  • MightyMuleSupport
A: Jeff, our tech team did not see why it would not work, and it would depend on how far away the transmitter is from the receiver. It is a magnetometer that detects metal so if the mass of the garage is greater than the mass of the vehicles it is detecting it will mask any approaching vehicles. If a building is large enough it will disrupt area magnetic field.

Bullet Proof-- 15+years

I've had one of these in continuous operation for about 15 years. No issues. It works great. The Arizona sun is starting to take its toll on the transmitter housing, but other than that, no problems in all that time. Change the batteries annually.

Never would buy.

Have a concrete driveway and could never get this product to work. Moved closer and closer to house and never had an alarm. My sensor was buried as directed and alarm box was in window and still no response. Dug up and threw away. Consider this to be a waste of time and money.

No, I do not recommend this product.

It worked until it didn't work

Its been working fine until it suddenly started to constantly transmit. Unplugged and plugged in the receiver. Changed the dip switches to match on both transmitter and receiver, replaced batteries in transmitter, lowered the sensitivity to almost the lowest setting. It still transmits constantly. It has worked for a couple of years.

No, I do not recommend this product.
