Love love love this product for places that get a lot of sun and/or moisture . Have used it countless times and it’s awesome!

Last winter we removed several exterior hatches from our boat. We sanded the old finish completely off of the teak. We then applied 3 coats of the Spar Urethane. This was a big mistake. When spring came we remounted the hatches and they looked great. Unfortunately within a few weeks the finish started to fail. By the end of teh summer they looked terrible as the finish was completely gone in some places and bleached looking in others. The wood looked as if it hadn't been cared for in, literally, years. Boating pals have looked at he teak hatches and commented how terrible they look. This winter we removed the hatches to refinish them...again. But we certainly won't be using a modern Minwax product. We'll just go back to normal marine varnish. Granted it can be fiddly to use but with enough coats it won't look embarrassingly terrible after just a few summer months.

I spent days planing and sanding beautiful yellow cedar wood to make a new picnic table for the back yard. After hours of preparation and cleaning I decided on the “best” oil based product to protect my investment. I chose the spar varnish that I am writing this review on gave it 2 coats and followed all instructions. It took 3 months or so for my beautiful table to look like crap!! I will never use this product again as now I have to refinish the entire thing.
