- A: Miracle-Gro Seed Starting Potting Mix does not have a shelf life or expiration date. However manures, compost, and mulch will decompose over time. For best results, keep the product in a dry location, up off of cement floors. Potting mixes support plant development by providing a light-weight, nutrient-rich environment for root growth. Miracle-Gro potting mixes are formulated to absorb and release water as your container plant needs it. We would recommend that you use the potting soil for a couple months to get the seeds started and then transplant them.8 years agoHelpful?

This soil is wonderful for any indoor planting needs. My kids love to take care of plants and this is perfect for them to use all year round! It feed those easy plants and gives the kids confidence in their gardening skills.

This potting mix has worked super well for not only this plant but all of my tomato plants I have going and they are producing wonderfully!!! I think this potting mix is absolutely wonderful!

My daughter made a pot for me on mother's day. So I'm excited to put my soli in there and grow something inside the house with her. I've already done some basil so hopefully it'll come up nice.

Seeds germinated fast!

I used this soil to grow impatients for the season, I was rather surprised how fast the seeds germinated and started growing inside, without the need of a grow light. In fact it happened so fast my flowers are all grown and still too cold out of to bring them out. It was very easy to use, just filled the trays and add your seeds, retains water well and does the job. I used some of the leftover soil to fill in my potted plants that live inside and it must have quite a bit of nutrients because they are thriving, the violet that was kind of sick is now all green and flowering. Same for a little potted plant that was struggling, it seems to be in better health. This soil I a must have for people that enjoy gardening of any kind
