Q: What product is recommended for thinning this paint?

1 Answer
  • Rust-OleumSupport
A: Great question! If needing to thin Rust-Oleum Specialty Farm and Implement Paint, we recommend using mineral spirits. Thinning is not normally required for brush or roller application. If applying with an air-atomized sprayer, you can thin up to 15% by volume. For airless spraying, it is not normally needed, but you can thin up to 5% by volume. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 3

Q: Can i soray this with a spray gun and how

1 Answer
  • Rust-OleumSupport
A: Great question! Yes, Rust-Oleum Farm and Implement Paint can be applied through an air-atomized or airless sprayer. The starting tip size on the air-atomized sprayer is 0.055-0.070 with a PSI of 25-60. If using an airless sprayer, the starting tip size is 0.013-0.017 with a PSI of 1,600-2,400 psi. If needing to thin the material, we recommend using mineral spirits only. Thin no more than 15% by volume for the air-atomized spryer and max 5% by volume for the airless spryer. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 10

Q: I am painting a home heating oil fuel tank that came with primer on it. Is this the right paint to use? I think these tanks are made out of galvanized.

  • Rust-OleumSupport
A: Thank you for reaching out. While Rust-Oleum Specialty Farm & Implement Paint can not be applied to galvanized surfaces, you can first apply Rust-Oleum Zinsser Bulls Eye 1-2-3 Water-Based Primer and then top coat with Farm & Implement. If the surface will exceed 200° F then this paint and primer can not be applied as they will blister and peel. https://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/product/rust-oleum-zinsser-bulls-eye-123-white-1-gal-2001 -Rust-Oleum Product Support 14

A: Thanks for reaching out! The Rust-Oleum Specialty Farm & Implement Paint will bond to fiberglass. We recommend that you scuff sand it with a 180 or 220 grit sandpaper, and make sure the surface is clean with an appropriate degreaser, before moving forward with the application. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 1

I used this paint on an older tractor I have been restoring. This paint stuck great and covered nicely. Did a little sanding on the parts I painted and it went on great. Spray is strong and even and doesnt run even when put on a little heavy.

This is a great Ford Blue paint! First off, it matched our ford tractor perfectly! We also have a few antique toy tractors we’ve had lying around in desperate need of some love and this paint made them look brand new!

Bought the fit husband who is always fixing up his cars paint due to rusting from being older. He loves how durable it is post application and how quickly it dries. It also doesn’t leave streaks for noticeable differences.

Yes, I recommend this product.
