If 2% of a typical horse's weight should be fed each day, a 1100-pound horse needs approximately 22 pounds of feed per day. Pellets can be fed all at once or split up between a morning or evening feeding. They can be fed alone or mixed with other feeds. The 11/64" inch diameter of our pellets should significantly reduce the choking risk associated with feeding - as such, our feed can be fed dry without soaking. Horse owners may wish to add a ration balancer/multi-vitamin to supplement the horse's micronutrient needs. With this addition, Unbeetable is a complete feed. No other feed or hay should be necessary to provide the horse its full daily nutritional requirements.
Many nutritionists and veterinarians recommended that changes to a horse's feed be made gradually. As such, we suggest introducing Unbeetable as no more than 25% of a horse's feed ration for the first week with an additional 25% added each subsequent week. This will give the horse's gut time to adjust. After four weeks, most horses will be able to consume up to 100% of their overall diet as Unbeetable blend.
