Q: If setting this unit on a tiled floor, that is laid over hardie backer, do I need a stove board? Is a tile floor over hardie backer considered a “solid” masonry floor?
4 months ago- A: Hello, a tile floor over HardieBacker is not considered a solid masonry floor because it rests on a combustible wood subfloor, which can still catch fire from radiant heat. Per the US1269E Owner's Manual, you must use a UL-listed stove board with a minimum R-value of 2.06 to provide necessary thermal protection. Standard tile and backer board only provide "ember protection" and lack the thickness required to prevent the wooden floor underneath from charring over time.3 months agoHelpful?
