Strawberry, botanically known as Fragaria, is a low-growing herbaceous, hybrid perennial of cultivated origin. It is grown in home vegetable gardens around the world for its magnificent tasting fruit. Plants will spread over time by over-ground runners that root forming new plants increasing its yield and harvest annually. Plants are five-petaled, producing flowers first which give way to fruit. The White Carolina strawberry, also known as the Pineberry, is a unique variety known for its distinct appearance and flavor. While its berry size is small to medium its color is white to a pale pink exterior with red seeds, with a white to light pink interior. Its flavor is sweet with a distinctive pineapple-like flavor, which is what make it unique from traditional strawberries. Ideal for fresh consumption. It can be sensitive to harsh conditions and extreme temperatures. White Carolina is often considered an everbearing or day-neutral variety. It has the ability to produce fruit continuously throughout the growing season, rather than all at once in a short period such as Junebearers.
