Good health begins with proper feeding. Wholesomes can help maintain your dog's health when combined with exercise, veterinary care, and controlling intake of other food and treats. Use this chart as a guide, adjusting as necessary to maintain optimal weight. Portions will vary according to age, breed, temperament and environment.
When introducing Wholesomes, mix increasing amounts of Wholesomes with decreasing amounts of the current food over a 7 to 10 day period. During gestation and lactation, feed 2 to 4 times the portions recommended for the weight of your adult dog. Puppies often begin to eat solid foods at 3 to 4 weeks of age. Food can be served dry or with warm water (3 parts food to 1 part water). Offer clean, fresh water at all times. See your veterinarian regularly.

I’ve tried Diamond, Victor, Purina, Taste of the Wild, and Valu Pak. Valu Pak worked for quite a while until they added chicken meal and I didn’t realize it. Suddenly the dog’s tummies were upset constantly. I think the reason Valu Pak worked for so long was the minimal ingredients. Everything else just has too much going on. I thought I was never going to find anything comparable until I stumbled across Wholesomes sensitive skin and stomach. No more loose stool, smelly farts, bum licking, or scratching. It’s definitely one of the better values out of everything I’ve tried. I wish the Kcal was higher but that’s probably the trade off for minimal ingredients.
