I’ve a few of these machines and prefer them to mow my 5 acres of Sierra grassland. By far this YardMax is the worst! Very disappointed. It has plenty of power to cut through waist-high grass, I like it’s ease in adjusting cut height, and being able to pull-start it without the cutting head engaged is nice, but that is it. First and biggest issue is its ergonomics are poor with its too small tires and too short and narrow handle bar. I can mow for 2-3 hours with my Cub Cadet without issue, but a half hour on this YardMax and I hurt! My wrists hurt, my shoulders hurt, my legs hurt - it’s just too small to be easily maneuvered over anything but flat, level groomed terrain. Second big issue is the string retention system on the cutting head is a joke! So poorly designed that every time you hit a branch or trunk the line is ripped out. Also, threading in new line is more difficult than my other units. Finally, when I unboxed the unit I had to go through and tighten all the bolts as half were only hand tight and I had to buy bolts for the wheel shaft as it didn’t come with any. I’m planning on returning this unit as I can tell it’s not going to last long.

This Mower is a beast. Years ago used a trimmer mower, not this brand so knew what to expect. I am cutting weeds up to 3 1/2 feet tall and extremely thick. You just can't go too fast or weeds will wrap around the spindle. If it is bad enough the mower will shut off. Ok so.....yeah this mower is a pig on gas.......full tank will go for somewhere around an hour. From time to time when I cut it off it will backfire. Now the bad, I am 5 6''. The handle is just too short.......even for me. So before you buy.....put your hands on it and move it to see how you like it. One last thing, the ball it rides on in the front is metal.....I expected plastic.....but no.

Great machine.very powerful and easy to replace strings. Also used 1.55 diameter from TSC . Cuts like 🧈
